Physical Therapy

Stephanie Owens-Burkhart
Stephanie Owens-Burkhart is a graduate of the University of Miami Doctorate of Physical Therapy program (Go Canes!). She has her BS in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University. She is Pilates for Rehabilitation certified through one of the world’s leading Pilates programs – Polestar Pilates. In addition, she has her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy and Illinois Physical Therapy Associations and is certified in Dry Needling and CranioSacral Therapy.
Dr. Owens-Burkhart is committed to treating the patient in a holistic manner, using a variety of techniques, such as manual therapy, identifying and correcting muscle imbalances, Pilates and yoga-inspired exercises, as well as functional movement screening and sport-specific training/rehab programs. As an athlete herself, she is well educated on developing treatment programs to both rehab existing injuries and preventing future injuries. With her broad skill set, she is focused on developing an effective and individualized plan of care for her patients. Stephanie loves traveling, Pilates, weight lifting, Yoga, Meditation, trying new restaurants, drinking good wine, and going on every new adventure that she can! Her favorite activity is spending time with her husband, Peter, and daughter, Stevie.

Helen Owens
Helen Owens is the founder and owner of Orthopedic Physical Therapy Services, LLC in Homer Glen, IL since 1988. Her emphasis is in Orthopedics and practices as a manual physical therapist with a hands-on approach to patient care. She has publications related to shoulder, elbow, head and neck dysfunction, TMJ, and connective tissue changes due to joint immobilization. She is experienced in Kinesiotaping and foot orthotics and routinely incorporates both with her care.
She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy and the Illinois Physical Therapy Private Practice Forum. She began teaching at Northwestern University in 1982 and currently guest lectures on head and neck treatment at both Northwestern and Rosalind Franklin University of Medical Science.
Helen enjoys hanging out by the lake, spending time with family and friends, going to museums, and traveling.

Anne Best
Anne is a graduate of Governor State University Doctorate of Physical Therapy program. She has her B.S. in Health Sciences from the University of Dayton. She was a member of the GSU women’s golf team for 3 seasons (Go Jags!). Anne is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Illinois Physical Therapy Association. She is certified in the Restriction Based Approach Manual Therapy system for Lumbopelvic and Hip Complex and in Dry Needling. Anne also specializes in vestibular rehab to help treat vertigo, dizziness, and lightheadedness.
Anne is dedicated to treating all individuals in a holistic manner, promoting healthy lifestyles, and incorporating all aspects learned in her education to better enhance a patient’s quality of life. She is passionate about golf, enjoys traveling, fine wine/dining, playing with her dog Rory, and spending time with family.

Eric Eickholtz
Eric went to the University of Iowa for his Bachelors of Science in Psychology and obtained his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Rosalind Franklin University in North Chicago, Illinois. Eric began his career in Nashville, TN where he ran a successful outpatient practice and collected a wide variety of manual therapy skills including Trigger Point Dry Needling.
In his free time, Eric enjoys all forms of exercise, particularly weight training! When he isn’t working our he enjoys traveling anywhere he can go!

Ashley Cerullo
Ashley Cerullo graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with her doctorate in physical therapy in 2012. She has her BS in Biology from Eastern Illinois University. She has worked both in outpatient physical therapy and home health. This has given her a unique perspective allowing her to treat patients from the day of surgery to completion of plan of care. Ashley specializes in treating patients post joint replacement and also those who participate in trampoline, tumbling, gymnastics, and dance. She was a member of the U.S.T.A National Trampoline and Tumbling team and a judge for 10 years. Ashley also has an interest in treating patients diagnosed with autoimmune conditions and those who suffer from chronic pain.
Ashley enjoys treating the entire individual and understands the importance of one-on-one care. She is a busy mom of two little boys and a puppy. Outside of work, Ashley loves getting outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Her two boys love sports, parks, and going to the zoo.

Susan Tilly
Sue is a graduate of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences Master of Physical Therapy Program. She has been a part of the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Services team since 2001. She treats orthopedic and sports-related injuries, including but not limited to: back and neck injuries, shoulder dysfunction, rotator cuff repairs, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, pre and post-operative hip, and knee replacements, plantar fascitis, TMJ dysfunctions, balance dysfunction, and much more.
Sue believes in using a holistic approach and enjoys treating patients one-on-one. She utilizes modalities as appropriate, manual therapy techniques, and individualized exercise programs to help her patients achieve their therapy goals while minimizing their risk of re-injury. Sue is a busy mother to four children. In her spare time, she enjoys attending her children’s activities, running, biking, reading, and making memories with her family.

Rena Regan
Rena is a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant and a Basi Certified Pilates Instructor. She is highly skilled in manual therapy, Pilates-based rehab techniques, KinesioTaping, ISTYM, and much more.
She is passionate about empowering patient or clients to take control of their health and wellness and reach their full potential. She uses a holistic treatment approach and individually tailors each treatment session. She is a hands-on practitioner with the main goal of getting you out of pain.
Rena is a doting Dog Mom to her German Shepard – Mocha. She enjoys boating, traveling, and spending time with her fiance, Dave.

Jessica Hasty
Jessica is a graduate of James Madison University in Kinesiology. Following graduation, she began working at the largest pelvic health physical therapy practice in New Jersey where her passion for women’s health and one-on-one orthopedic care continued to grow. She is a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant and is Certified in Pelvic Floor Therapy through the American Physical Therapy Association.
Jessica became interested in pelvic health physical therapy from dealing with her own urinary voiding issues at a young age. As a result of her past adolescent experiences, her passion for becoming a Women’s Health Physical Therapy Specialist became her professional priority. Jessica specializes in working with women dealing with bladder issues, pelvic pain, and pelvic organ prolapse. In addition to pelvic health, she also treats orthopedic and sports-related injuries.
When she’s not treating patients, Jessica is most likely on hikes with her husband and two dogs (Tucker + Rizzo), traveling, or at the gym.

Mary Jandeska
Mary is one of our physical therapy technicians and Orthopedic Physical Therapy Services/Refresh Pilates & Wellness Studio’s office manager. She attended Soma Institute for Clinical Massage Therapy in Chicago where she learned multiple treatment plans for T.M.J., whiplash, fibromyalgia, and much more. Mary has worked as a massage therapist in many different areas including pain management clinics, assisted living facilities, volunteered at the Chicago Marathon, and Joliet Area Community Hospice. She also interned for Loyola University’s men’s basketball team.
In her downtime away from work, she enjoys hiking, camping, and traveling with her husband and fur-babies (Nova and Bruno)! She looks forward to helping you on your road to recovery and pain-free life!

Justin Wierzgac
Justin is one of our physical therapy technicians and our personal trainer on staff! He recently graduated from Aurora University with exercise science. While studying at AU (Go Spartans!), Justin played 3 seasons of basketball which lead to winning 2 conference championships! Along with his athletic career, he also studied how much the body loves to exercise and how to exercise properly.
If he’s not doing magic tricks and assisting patients at the clinic, you can find him playing video games, basketball, or hanging out with his big America-Akita, Mika. He looks forward to spreading energy and positivity towards your natural healing process!

Dani Wilson
Dani has been in the Health and Fitness Industry for 30 years coaching hundreds of clients towards better health, weight loss, improved energy, confidence, and more. She is a Certified Holistic Health Coach through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and an Athletic and Fitness Association Fitness Professional.
In Dani’s years of experience she has taught a variety of group and one on one fitness formats from all forms of resistance training to Pilates and more.
Dani specializes in health and nutrition coaching combined with fitness to help her clients on a deeper level for life lasting results. She understands the need for her approach since she has Autoimmune and is deeply passionate for helping others live well. Her approach to coaching is structured to include all parts of a healthy lifestyle, physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and environmental.
Dani loves to travel, workout, dance and enjoy life with a positive attitude to always try and make each day the best it can be!

Kamal Shasi
Kamal is our newest edition to the team as a Physical Therapy Technician! Kamal is a former basketball player, and after suffering from his fair share of injuries, he now has a passion for helping others heal. Kamal is interested in becoming a physical therapist and enjoys working with patients who struggle with knee and shoulder pain. Kamal can’t wait to help you reach your PT goals!

Tim Molloy
Tim is set to complete his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois @ Chicago this upcoming fall with plans to apply to PT school in the future. His interests include sports, food, music, and watching movies. He is a huge Chicago sports fan, especially the Bears, and loves talking to others about them. Tim has been working with us since April 2022 and is super excited what his future in Physical Therapy has in store!

Kathryn Pfeiffer
Kathryn is working as one of our PT techs during her gap year. She graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine in May and is taking a year off to work while applying to medical schools. Being a group fitness instructor, she is excited to work through exercises with patients and help them on their healing journey!
Pilates

Toni Poradyla
Toni is a Basi Certified Pilates Instructor that aims to make classes safe, fun, and challenging. Her attention to detail makes her classes perfect for beginners and seasoned Pilates practitioners alike. She is also a 200hr Certified Yoga Instructor. Her goal is to have each person feel better, physically and mentally, after each class.
“I like to incorporate the mind and body in all of my classes. This is a judgement free zone! Have fun, do your best, and feel great!”

Jessica Wojtas
Jessica has been practicing pilates since 2011. Her passion for Pilates developed after having a double mastectomy and post-natal. Pilates made a difference in her life, and she would like to help others gain and improve their inner strength, physically and mentally, the same as it helped her. Walking taller and doing everyday activities with balance and confidence. She loves the excitement of assisting people in conquering a challenge or performing a move they are intimidated by.
After having her daughter, she decided it was time to pursue her dream of being a Pilates instructor.

Erika Muszynski
Erika, one of our certified pilates instructors, has been involved in the fitness industry for over 25 years. She has taught all forms of fitness classes, from pilates classes of any format to water aerobics to Spin Step. After gaining years of experience, she is excited to share her knowledge of and love for fitness with participants, as she coaches them through her classes.

Heather Barrett
Heather has been a certified pilates instructor for the last 16 years. She was inspired to get certified after suffering from chronic back pain for years. When she found pilates, she instantly fell in love AND was able to control her own chronic pain. Heather has a passion for helping people of all ages and fitness levels become stronger and more confident. She always aims to instruct her classes in a fun, effective, and safe way.
Massage Therapy

Anne Doyle
Anne is passionate about providing the best possible massage therapy. She has a strong interest in working with people in pain or with injuries – both old and new. She communicates with the client to tailor a comprehensive, individualized treatment that will meet your every massage therapy need.
She is a graduate of the Soma Institute: The National School of Clinical Massage Therapy, a Licensed Massage Therapist, and a member of The American Massage Therapy Association. She is certified in Pre and Post-Natal massage as well as IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation). Anne enjoys being outside in nature and being as active as she can with both friends and family.
